My name is Sam A. Shukor (Issam). I'll be your instructor. I'm a licensed architect in Canada with over 25 years of experience. I'm passionate about design, innovation and sustainability. My expertise ranges across several building typologies. I'm specifically dedicated to green design, especially passive design strategies. I'm a Certified Passive House Designer CPHD and holds a master degree in building science MBS. I'm here to support you to become that creative designer you're meant to be and genuinely believe that the world needs your passion and creativity!
Welcome to ISD Architectural Design Academy!
ISD Architectural Design Academy aims at teaching architectural design in a new light.
Current college and university programs are UNABLE to provide young practitioners, intern architects, and passionate designers with relevant and concise set of information for the practice of architecture. Instead it provides them with a lot of irrelevant and scattered information about "systems" that cause confusion and information overload. nothing about the real design process or the methodology of creativity.
Moreover, design courses at academia focuses on the Modern Movement functional paradigm and its off-sprint the Post MM. When the green architecture started to pick momentum the functional program was timidly tweaked to incorporate a little bit of "building science". This approach is not working anymore.
ISD Architectural Design Academy aims to fill this gap and make architectural design learning affordable to everyone who loves architecture and thinking of being an architect or a designer. ISD Academy has a different paradigm based on the critique of the current architectural practice (linear approach) and attempts to open up new horizons to students of architecture, Intern Architects, and young practitioners and designers.
We believe that the design community at large should have a lot to say and contribute to the developement of the society, and therefore should be fully engaged in creating better environments and buildings. We also endeavor to make design learning affordable and accessible for all.
